Camp Muir hike and ski, July 12, 2008

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings."-- John Muir

On Saturday, July 12, 2008 a group from Peace Lutheran Church in Puyallup met at a very crowded Paradise to climb 4500 vertical to 10,080 ft. Camp Muir.

Not knowing how long it would take me as I was carrying skis and still suffering from a recently separated shoulder, I started out when I was ready as many of the group had yet to arrive. I hiked for 3-1/2 hours then took a half hour break just under Anvil Rock. As I was getting ready to leave, Andy Casillas and Chris Lee arrived and are pictured below.

We then headed off for the last 1000 feet of vertical to Muir...

Andy with a view of the Tatoosh Range behind, the Goat Rocks to the left, and Mt. Adams on the southern horizon.

Booting my way to Muir...

With every step the mountain and Gibraltar Rock looms closer.
